Birth Story

Mothers from all walks of life

After all my years as a Birth Doula, I have come to believe that in our birth stories we find who we truly are.  Strong, confident women!  By writing our stories down and sharing them with others we can help our fellow sisters find the strength and love that carries us through this journey we call motherhood.

My intention is to combine these stories into a book.  If you would like to participate, please use the following questions as a way to develop your story.  Be as honest as you can.  Don't hold anything back.  All names and identifying details will either be changed or left out in the final editing process.

Please take your time to write your story......and feel free to include anything else you feel is important.

By submitting your story, you are giving me permission to include it in my publication.  Unfortunately, I can not guarantee that it will be published.

What inner challenges did you face during the pregnancy or adoption process?

What outer life challenges were you facing at the time?
(work, money, relationships, housing, etc.)

Describe the events on the day you went into labor and the birth (or adoption).  Include all details you remember that held significant meaning for you.

Now looking back to that time, can you see how you've grown?  What is different about you now?  What have you learned?  Do you see life differently?  Are your values the same?

Note:  A tape recording of the story is a great alternative for Grandmothers and others, who are natural storytellers but would rather not write.
